K2 2013 - Bring it on !!!

Here is a report of how the Fita 18 Team and Individual Portsmouth events went.

I was only on the Team event this year. I am glad I did shoot despite not having any practise for 4 months!
It was a real pleasure to shoot. The more K2's I do the more I enjoy them. You get to recognise more faces each year.

Jenny said that it was a pleasure shooting K2 this year. She said she suffered from a lack of preparation for the Tournament and felt that she should of shot better. She also regretted not entering the Individual Portsmouth rounds. All in all she felt supported and encouraged by her team mates and enjoyed the experience.

Doug said that he arrived quite early so he could set up his kit and look around. It was his first time to this venue. He also said it was an impressive venue with hundreds of archers there. Doug also noticed that the Judges were helpful towards the less experienced archer. It was a long day for Doug and he said he was exhausted by the end ! He also achieved 3 PB's (personal bests). He recommends this competition to all that have not been yet.

Out of 30 Fita 18 Teams - Arundown Academical's came 18th with 1919, and Arundown Amicables came 26th with 1723. Well done all !

The list of honours include John Nolan, Duncan Rees-Gildea, Craig Marsden, Jon Stafford, Liz Bowyer, Jenny Francis, Doug 'line cutter' Hendrie and me.. Stephen Curtis.. Not to forget those who shot in the preceding individual events too. Doing all 3 shoots is quite a feat !! Well done Doug !

Liz won the Regional & County Championships for Longbow too with 403. Fantastic !!

A special mention to Duncan and Craig who shot for the very first time in what is classed as a big Tournament. Well done guys ! We hope you enjoyed the experience....and last but not least a big thanks to Rod and Rob who helped along with many other Judges and officials to make K2 a success.

Also a mention for our Junior Barebow expert Max Ramsey who achieved a record of 519 for a Portsmouth a little while back - well done Max !!!

Now we wait until there is more light and warmer winds to hone our sights for the forth coming Outdoor events. Keep an eye on the Arundown website for dates and fixtures.

I was handed a Tournament leaflet at K2 which is from Six Villages Archery Club. They have a Tournament on Sunday 21st July. There is the American Round which is 2.5 dozen at 60, 50 & 40 yards, and there is a St Nicholas Round for the Juniors which is 4 dozen at 40 yards and 3 dozen at 30 yards. See www.sixvillagesarcheryclub.org.uk for more details if you want to have a go.
